À la carte tickets

The STM’s regular fare tickets have been replaced by a card with a magnetic stripe containing one trip. This card also serves as your transfer and your proof of payment.

Simple and easy to use

Fare gateIn the métro

  1. Insert your card in the slot on the new blue and red fare gates. Audio signals and lights will confirm the card’s validity.

  2. Retrieve your card from the top of the fare gate and keep it !

Fare collection boxOn the bus

  1. Insert your card in the slot on the fare collection box. As in the métro, audio signals and lights will confirm the card’s validity.

  2. Retrieve your card from the same slot in which you inserted it.

KEEP IT!

Remember to keep it with you until the end of your trip. It’s your proof of payment.

Once you’ve passed the turnstiles, when you’re in the station’s corridors or on its platforms, aboard the métro or in the bus, always keep your valid transit fare with you. During fare control, it’s your proof of payment. Thank you.

Transfers

When you use tickets à la carte to pay your fare, the date and time are printed on the back of the magnetic card. So if you must use more than one STM vehicle (bus or métro) to reach your destination, you need only insert your card again in the appropriate slot of the fare control equipment to validate your transfer. Transfers are valid for 120 minutes from the time printed on the back of the magnetic card.

How much does the À la carte tickets cost

Consult the fare schedule for complete details.

Notice
A transfer does not allow transit users to carry out a return trip or to interrupt their trip and later take another bus on the same route. One cannot take the métro again using a transfer issued in the métro.
