Molson Indy Montréal The STM will increase métro service

Press release

Molson Indy Montréal
The STM will increase métro service

Montreal, 25 August 2005 - With Molson Indy Montréal being held next August 26, 27 and 28 on Île Notre-Dame, the STM will step up métro service. Indeed, on the 4 – Yellow line, trains will run every 4 to 5 minutes from early mornings to early evenings, and service will be adjusted to meet with demand on the 1 – Green and 2 – Orange lines.

The métro is still the best way to reach the racing site, and the STM suggests fans purchase their return ticket ahead of time to avoid line-ups. For $16, they can buy a three-day Tourist Pass, giving them unlimited access to public transit during all Molson Indy Montréal activities.

As large numbers of fans are expected to use the métro to attend racing events, access to the métro system with a bicycle will be restricted until after 9 p.m. on August 26, 27 and 28.

Bus service ajustments

Because ridership levels increase considerably during such events, bus service throughout the islands will be slightly modified. There will be no service on the 167 – Les Îles, heading to La Ronde, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Instead, transit users should take the 169 – Île-Ronde bus from Papineau métro station to reach the amusement park. The 167 – Les Îles, heading to the Casino, will run according to its regular schedule on Friday and Saturday, but service will be cancelled on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. As for the 168 – Cité-du-Havre, regular service will be provided on Friday and Saturday, although buses will not stop at Cité du Havre from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Lastly, as the beach at Parc Jean-Drapeau is closed, no buses will be going there.

When planning their transportation during those three days, transit users are invited to consult the Planibus timetables or to call A-U-T-O-B-U-S (288-6287) for schedules at their bus stop. For travel directions, they should call STM-INFO (786-4636). More useful information can be found on the STM’s website at www.stm.info.
