The STM is introducing a new public taxi service
between Senneville and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

Montreal, July 25, 2007 - Striving to improve public transit service levels in the West Island sector of Montréal, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will introduce a new, on-call public taxi service between Phillips Avenue in Senneville and the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue commuter train station, during morning and afternoon rush hour periods only. This new service will be available as of next August 6.

This service will allow connections with two train departures in the morning and two train arrivals in the afternoon. During morning rush hour, taxis will travel from the Phillips Avenue stop, located at the corner of Phillips and Senneville Road, to the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue station in time for the 7:09 and 7:24 am trains heading to downtown Montréal. During afternoon rush hour, taxis will travel back from the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue train station to the Phillips Avenue stop, after the 6:08 and 6:25 pm train arrivals from downtown Montréal.

“The new public taxi service in Montréal’s West Island is in response to requests by residents of the area, as it was not covered by public transit,” declared Claude Trudel, Chairman of the STM Board of Directors. “This new service is being introduced thanks to the joint efforts of the STM and Senneville elected officials.”

To use this service, clients must reserve a seat at least one hour in advance by calling the CO-OP des propritaires de taxi de l'Ouest métropolitain directly at 514 636-6666. When planning their trips, transit users can also consult the STM website (www.stm.info) for more useful information. Finally, the fares for public taxis are the same as those for the integrated bus and métro netwok.

The STM also offers public taxi services between the Lachine industrial park and Dorval train station, as well as L’Île-Bizard and Senneville, in the Sainte-Marie sector of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, along Norman street in Lachine, as well as between Place-Vertu and the Aldo distribution centre in Ville Saint-Laurent.
