The STM expands service
on line 209 Des Sources

Montreal, March 14, 2008 - The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to inform its clientele that the expanded service on bus route 209 – Des Sources will take effect on Monday, March 17, 2008. As of then, this bus route will provide continuous daytime service on weekdays at approximately 30-minute intervals between 9:15 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as well as between 7:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

This additional service will provide greater availability to STM customers who already use this bus route during rush hour. The increase of 8 400 hours of service per year will thus extend the schedule of this route between the Dorval and Roxboro-Pierrefonds train stations.

« This initiative is part of the service improvement program announced last year, which is targeted, in particular, at increasing ridership and providing Montrealers with an even more efficient network », stated the Chairman of the STM’s Board of Directors, Claude Trudel. « The new period of service on line 209 – Des Sources, which serves residential, industrial and commercial sectors, will provide a direct link throughout the day between the various sectors bordering on Des Sources Boulevard, thus saving customers some twenty minutes in travel time ».

« This is excellent news for all our citizens. I am convinced that the extension of service beyond rush hour on line 209 will be a major incentive for users going to the Roxboro-Pierrefonds train station who will not have the worry of parking and who will be able to abandon their cars completely in favour of public transit », explained Monique Worth, mayor of the borough of Pierrefonds.

« The addition of service on des Sources Boulevard will be positively received by residents and by employers in the industrial-commercial sector of Pointe-Claire », added Bill McMurchie, mayor of the city of Pointe-Claire.

We invite customers to consult the March Planibus schedule for line 209, which contains the new timetable listing the departures throughout the day. For any other route-related information, customers are invited to call STM-INFO
(514-786-4636), to refer to the system map or to visit the STM’s Web site (www.stm.info), which contains a wealth of useful information.
