STM’s Bélanger mechanical ventilation station:
construction work begins this week
Montréal, November 5, 2009 – As part of Réno-Systèmes, its asset maintenance program for stationary equipment in the métro, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) this week is undertaking the construction of a new mechanical ventilation station to replace the existing one. This project, valued at approximately $14.5 million, will respond to two needs:
The construction of this new mechanical ventilation station will bring the installations up to current standards and will improve the availability as well as the reliability of equipment. This station will be located in Bélanger –de –Châteaubriand park, which is bordered by Châteaubriand and Bélanger Streets. The first stage of the work begins tomorrow with the transplanting of ten maple trees from Bélanger-de Châteaubriand park to Père-Marquette and Beaubien parks located in the same borough. It should be mentioned that the construction work, which will last 21 months, will allow the STM to redesign Bélanger – Châteaubriand park, a tangible benefit for all users, as the park will be revitalized and better adapted to the needs of those who frequent it. – 30 –
