The STM presents the
Salon national de l’environnement
June 19 - 21

Montréal, June 19, 200
9 For a second year in a row, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to present the Salon national de l’environnement, next June 19, 20 and 21 at Place des Vestiges, located on the Old Port Quays.

“At a time when Montrealers are showing a growing awareness for the environment, public transit is more popular than ever. This year, the STM invites everyone to Join the movement it recently launched,” declared Denise Vaillancourt, STM Planning, Marketing and Communications Executive Director.

Visitors can find out more about the STM initiative aimed at enticing as many people as possible into using public transportation. Indeed, at the entrance to site, aboard the Funambus, the STM’s promotional bus made up of recycled and repurposed materiasl, an energetic team is on hand to help them discover more about the many initiatives evolving from Join the Movement.

After a stop at the Funambus, the STM also suggests stopping by the Espace collectif STM, located inside the sustainable transportation tent. In the Cocktail transport area, visitors can discover new transit options adapted to an urban lifestyle. At Espace Services, they can find out more about the major service improvement projects slated for this year and the next ones. Finally, a number of people will spin the lucky wheel to win one of many prizes related to sustainable transportation.

“I hope that many people visit the Salon national de l’environnement. To all those who will meet with STM representatives, I ask : Will you Join the Movement ?,” concluded Mrs. Vaillancourt, who hopes that people will embrace public transit because by doing so, they help lower GHG emissions and, in the end, improve the quality of life in Montréal.
