With Bixi-bus, the STM offers you a breath of fresh air!
Montréal, May 12, 2009 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with the self-serve bicycle rental business regarding a new way for people to be mobile by combining public transit with Bixi.
“While the STM mission consists of developing and operating an integrated transit network, cordially providing passengers with fast, reliable, safe and comfortable travel, the STM also believes it can and should do more. To that end, it aims to combine its eco-responsible action with partnership initiatives that promote the use of active and complementary modes of transportation all featured in the transportation cocktail”, declared the chairman of the STM board of directors, Michel Labrecque.
“Our agreement is practical, as it enables us to offer an annual membership to Bixi at very competitive rates. Indeed, our clients who commit to purchasing 12 consecutive STM monthly transit fares (monthly CAM – OPUS) will only pay $39 instead of the $78 usually charged to subscribe. STM + Bixi = another means of joining the movement,” concluded Mr. Labrecque.
Bixi, a self-serve bicycle rental business, features a fleet of 3000 bicycles spread out among 300 locations, including twelve that are next to Champ-de-Mars, Berri-UQAM, Saint-Laurent, Lucien-L’Allier, Beaudry, Papineau, Frontenac, Mont-Royal, Laurier, Outremont, Rosemont and Jean-Talon métro stations.
