Adopt the proper behaviour on public transit
It’s a good thing!

Montréal, November 15, 2010
After calling on clients to do their part to keep the buses and métro clean, the STM would now like to make them aware of the things they can do to help keep the installations in good condition and ensure the reliability of equipment as well as the fluidity and speed of trips.

Bus and métro users are therefore invited to participate in this second component of the awareness campaign by changing certain behaviour. The campaign launched November 8, will continue over the coming months and will be supported by displays in the métro cars, in the corridors of certain stations as well as in the buses.

Results of the cleanliness component of the awareness campaign
A survey conducted this past June via the Internet revealed that this campaign resonated with clients. It is very interesting to note that 91% of respondents saw at least one out of two posters, clients liked the campaign (86% liked it very much or somewhat) and the message was understood (97% mentioned one of the objectives of the campaign).

Impact of the campaign
According to the majority of respondents (88%), the campaign encouraged them to dispose of their newspapers or trash in the appropriate containers. Almost as many ( 83%) indicated that the campaign had a positive impact on their behaviour regarding cleanliness in the public transit network.
