Press release

Major work will be held at Assomption station from May 3 to September 10, 2010

Montréal, April 27, 2010
Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform clients that access to the entrance to Assomption station must be moved temporarily so that major repair work may be carried out. Starting May 3, clients are invited to use the temporary access located on the north side of the entrance. Protected corridors will be set up to limit any work-related inconvenience and signs will be posted to inform transit users.

During that time, repairs will consist mainly of demolishing the entrance building’s structural slab and pouring a new one, with the addition of a waterproofing membrane, repairing staircases and floor finishes, installing new windows, replacing the entrance building’s indoor and outdoor lighting, as well as resurfacing the asphalt.

Aware that these major works will somewhat force clients to change their habits around the station, the STM wants to reassure clients that every necessary measure has been taken to ensure public safety and that every effort has been made to minimize any related inconvenience.

The repair work is part of phase II of the Réno-Stations programme. Transport Québec and STM are financial partners in carrying out this programme.
