The STM adds service on the 470 – Express Pierrefonds bus route to match the métro’s operating hours

Starting today, weekday service will be offered from métro opening to closing time, and on weekends, from 6 :30 a.m. to métro closing time. Starting next August 30, weekend service will be offered throughout the day, from métro opening to closing time.

By expanding the period during which rapid bus service to Côte-Vertu métro station is provided, the new measures represent an increase of some 8000 hours of service per year. “When PASTEC, the public transit service improvement programme, first started in 2007, the STM had already expanded service on that route. Encouraged by the route’s popularity among transit users, who clearly wanted even more service, the STM again increased service in 2008. In the end, between 2006 and 2009, the STM tripled overall service on the 470 – Express Pierrefonds bus route, while ridership levels more than doubled. Over the same period, customer satisfaction held at 85%.”

“Borough officials in Pierrefonds-Roxboro are very pleased by the STM decision, as the local population will be encouraged to leave their car behind and use public transportation. This will result in many benefits, including less congestion on highways and better quality of life through lower greenhouse gas emissions. Travel times with the 470 – Express Pierrefonds bus route are significantly faster, by about 20 minutes, for clients who want to go directly to Côte-Vertu station. Also, the bus route runs along Pierrefonds and Saint-Jean boulevards, which also means a direct link with Fairview Centre and CEGEP Gérald-Godin, without any transfers.
