OPUS card for students A must for paying the reduced fare

Montréal, October 4, 2011 –  The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to remind its customers that students between the ages of 12 and 25 whose OPUS card is about to expire on October 31, 2011, must absolutely get a new one before next October 31.

HOW TO OBTAIN A NEW OPUS CARD
Until October 31, 2011, there are only two ways for students between the ages of 12 and 25 to obtain their card: By going to the STM photo studio, located at 2020 University, at McGill metro station, Monday to Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. or on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can also get their card when the photo session is held at their school. Photos sessions are ongoing until next October 19.

A PHOTO ID OPUS CARD REQUIRED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF REDUCED FARES
A valid OPUS card is the only way for students to pay the reduced fare. Starting November 1, it they do not have a valid OPUS card, they will be required to pay the regular adult fare to take STM transit. Furthermore, the expired card will no longer be accepted for use within the STM network.
