Construction of a new ventilation station in Ville-Marie borough

Press release

Montréal, November 13, 2012   – In keeping with the métro stationary equipment refurbishment program, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform the public that it will proceed with the construction of a new mechanical ventilation station between Place-d’Armes and Square-Victoria métro stations. The project will take about two years to complete and the worksite will occupy a portion of the parking lot located at the corner of Viger Avenue and Hermine Street.

More specifically, the project consists in replacing the mechanical ventilation station built in 1966. Apart from being quieter and more efficient, the new station will comply with current safety norms and city of Montréal noise regulations while providing customers with a better fresh air supply.

The STM is taking every appropriate measure to ensure public safety and minimize inconveniences resulting from this project. With this in mind, excavation work will be restricted to take place between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Monday to Friday.

For the latest information regarding this project, the public is invited to visit STM Works on our website (stm.info).

This project is made possible with the financial support of Québec’s Ministry of Transportation.
