Family Outings program during the winter school break

Press release

Montréal, March 1, 2012  –  The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has decided to offer its Family Outings program during the winter school break, from Saturday March 3 to Sunday March 11, 2012. The program normally allows an adult with a valid STM fare card to ride the Montréal transit network with a maximum of five children under the age of 12, at no additional cost, on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays.

The Family Outings program will therefore be offered throughout the week, while schoolchildren enjoy their winter break and many opportunities for activities are available to them, their family and friends. During the rest of the year, the program will still be offered on weekends and holidays.

Furthermore, upon presenting a valid fare card and a discount coupon, the program makes it possible to take advantage of interesting savings from several commercial partners offering tourist, cultural and leisure activities. With Family Outings, public transportation is clearly the best way to reach any of Montréal’s points of interest.

For more information about the program’s partners and extended period, as well as how to download coupons, simply go to http://www.stm.info/English/info/a-famille-3.htm However, we suggest you confirm the times and periods during which the discounts are valid in advance with a given commercial partner. The STM website also contains a wealth of useful and practical information to make riding public transit even better.

All STM fare cards are accepted regardless of their type. However, the Family Outings program does not apply to travel aboard the 747 bus running between downtown and Montréal-Trudeau airport.

The STM takes this opportunity to wish everyone an enjoyable winter break and to invite the public to choose public transit for their activities.
