Second phase of work extended at corner of Legendre and Saint-Laurent

Press release

Montréal, June 4, 2012  –  The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to advise customers that the second phase of work scheduled for June 4 – 8 at the corner of Legendre and Saint-Laurent Boulevard will be extended to June 22. A combination of heavy rainfalls early last week and a few technical difficulties experienced at the start of work is behind the extension. Still, the third phase of work should go ahead as planned, from June 26 to August 10.

As such, from June 4 to 22, Legendre St. will be closed to all westbound traffic, at all times, including weekends. Only one lane will be kept open on Legendre St, in the eastbound direction. We ask that motorists use Sauvé, Berri and Lajeunesse Streets to bypass the construction area.

The STM reminds the public that this worksite made it necessary to cancel the 53 - Boulevard Saint-Laurent bus stops along Legendre St. between Saint-Laurent and Saint-Denis. As for possible bus detours during the last phase of work (June 26 - August 10), the STM will provide more detailed information as the start of work draws nearer.

The STM wishes to reassure transit users that all necessary measures were taken to ensure public safety and that every effort was made to minimize any inconvenience resulting from the construction work. The public is invited to consult the Info Travaux section of Ville de Montréal’s website at http://ville.montreal.qc.ca for more details regarding the work being carried out and available alternatives.
