Short films to be presented in Berri-UQAM métro station to mark the 41st Festival du Nouveau Cinéma

Montréal, October 1, 2012   The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to invite customers to discover the art of cinematography presented in partnership with the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma 41st edition to be held in Montréal, from October 10 to 21, 2012. For the first time, a portion of this year’s Festival will be presented in the métro. From October 4 to 14, the Festival’s Cartes Blanches program will be featured in Berri-UQAM métro station. After last year’s resounding success among Festival enthusiasts, the event is back with the Cartes Blanches program that will highlight seven short films of 2 to 4 minutes in length, created by Québec and Canada filmmakers to show their unique perspective of the theme “Liberté Chérie” (Cherished Freedom).

Exclusive offers for OPUS cardholders

In order to encourage the use of public transit, the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma will offer again ,this year, exclusive discounts to all STM customers. From Monday to Friday, upon presentation of a valid transit pass, festival goers will benefit from a 2 for 1 offer on all film presentations at the Imperial Cinema and in two projection rooms of the Cineplex Quartier Latin.

In addition, with the purchase of a regular priced movie ticket and presentation of a valid STM transit pass, an adult may bring a child under 12 to the youth film program of the Festival at no extra charge. These film presentations will be held at the Outremont Theatre on the two last weekends of the Festival, more specifically, on October 13 and 14, and on October 20 and 21, 2012.

Take full advantage of the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma with the Unlimited Evening pass and the Family Outings program!

The Unlimited Evening pass provides the holder with the possibility of unlimited travel from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. The pass holder can travel as often as required throughout the STM bus and métro network, according to day and night schedules, except on the 747 bus line. However, the pass must be activated at least once before midnight to be valid.

As for the Family Outings program, an adult with a valid transit pass, accepted within the STM network, can travel with up to five children under 12 at no extra charge on Saturdays, Sundays and on legal holidays.
