Press release

Montréal, April 3, 2012  –  The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing it will supplement its public taxibus service in Senneville for the purpose of improving transportation services in this area of Montréal’s West Island starting next April 16.

« This initiative meets the needs of employees working at Charles River Laboratories and is in response to requests made by Senneville residents who wanted more frequent, flexible and efficient service, » declared Marvin Rotrand, vice-chairman of the STM board of directors. « Funded equally by Transport Québec and the Montréal Agglomeration, this service is the result of the STM and Senneville elected officials working together. »

« We are hoping that a large number of Senneville residents will use this new service, in order to promote the development and optimization of public transit services in this sector. We are convinced that this improvement in public transit will satisfy the needs and expectations of people, » added Georges McLeish, mayor of Senneville.

This taxibus service is the result of merging existing service along Phillips Avenue and in Senneville (Charles River). It will run Monday to Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., along an extended route and provide longer service hours to Senneville residents and workers. The taxi route will feature thirteen stops along Senneville Road, and make it possible to transfer to the 68 – Pierrefonds bus on Gouin boulevard, the 200 - Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, 211 - Bord-du-Lac, 212 - Sainte-Anne, 405 - Express Bord-du-Lac and 411 - Express Lionel-Groulx bus lines at Macdonald Terminus, and the commuter train at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue station.

Taxibus service calls for more than 25 possible departures each day in both directions. During rush hour, departures will take place every 15 to 30 minutes. During off-peak periods, the taxibus will run every hour. The schedule is made to coincide with train arrivals and departures to keep waiting times at a minimum when transferring between taxibus and commuter trains.

Transit customers who want to use the taxibus must reserve a seat at least 40 minutes ahead of time by calling 514 636-6666. No reservations will be needed, however, for a few rush hour departures, specifically serving the Charles River Laboratories. Fares are the same of the the integrated bus and métro system. Transit users must show a valid STM fare card to pay for their ride.

The STM reminds everyone that it also operates ten other public taxibus routes serving Baie-D’Urfé, Gare Lachine train station, Nuns’ Island, Taxi Or in Nuns’ Island, Île-Bizard, Norman St. in Lachine, Lachine industrial park, Sainte-Marie sector in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Sainte-Marie / L’Anse-à-l’Orme sector and Technoparc Montréal in Saint-Laurent.
