The AMT and STM unveil the honorary committee of the UITP Global Public Transport Summit – Montréal 2017

In preparation for the UITP Global Public Transport Summit that will be held in Montréal in 2017, yesterday the summit's hosts, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), unveiled the members that will make up its honorary committee, chaired by Montréal mayor Denis Coderre. The presentation was held at Montréal City Hall as part of a prelude to the 2017 summit and brought together the leading members of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP).

2016 BUDGET: A STRATEGIC SHIFT

During a press conference held today, the Mayor of Montréal, Denis Coderre, the Chairman of the STM board of directors, Philippe Schnobb, and STM Chief executive officer Luc Tremblay presented the STM’s budget for 2016.

Located in Saint-Laurent borough, the Société de transport de Montréal’s Stinson bus garage (CT) was given LEED Gold level certification from the Canada Green Building Council’s, a first in Québec for this type of building.

After detecting a technical issue with its 10-trips fare card, Société de transport de Montréal officials are asking all customers who hold a photo OPUS card (students 6 to 25 years old and anyone 65 and over), delivered between December 17, 2014 and October 18, 2015, to go check on the status of their card.

As part of their cultural exchange, Bruxelles Mobilité and Société de transport de Montréal (STM) today confirmed that new public artworks are currently being produced for the Brussels and Montréal métros. Montréal artist Patrick Bernatchez will adorn Brussels’ Trône station with his creation, while Franco-Belgian artist Adrien Lucca is to reciprocate with an artwork for Montréal’s Place-d’Armes station.

AZUR : STM announces the start of day-time testing

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) today announced the start of a new phase of qualification testing for AZUR. The tests are to be performed on two AZUR trains that where received respectively in April 2014 and in July 2015. The two trains will be operated during the day, mainly on the Orange and Blue lines. Testing without passengers will take place during off-peak hours over the next few months.

Montréal, July 16, 2015 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announces the opening of a new reserved lane on portions of boulevard de l’Acadie in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, starting July 27, 2015. The reserved lane, along with bus priority traffic lights that will be installed at a later date, will benefit the nearly 10,000 trips taken daily aboard the 179 and 180 buses, the two main bus lines serving that corridor.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to notify area residents that it will be performing sound tests on the métro’s Greene mechanical ventilation station, located on boulevard De Maisonneuve Ouest, between Atwater and Lionel-Groulx stations. These tests will take place late at night, in the early hours of July 14 to 15, and will last about 30 minutes

The Vendôme multimodal hub's new pedestrian tunnel officially opened this morning, in the presence of elected officials and partners. The tunnel's construction and the hub configuration improvements were essential to providing easier and safer access at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Glen site for the patients, visitors and employees who use the public transport services offered by the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).

JEAN-TALON STATION: ELEVATORS OPERATIONAL ON ORANGE LINE

Montréal Museums day: From home to the museum, to the next museum, and the next one with the STM

In order to help visitors get around the city for Montréal Museums Day next May 24, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will again be the official transporter, as it has been since the event was first held in 1987, and provide a free shuttle service. Participants can travel free of charge from one museum to the next and rediscover Montréal’s cultural side from an entirely new angle.

La Société de transport de Montréal (STM) annonce que le comité exécutif de la Ville de Montréal a approuvé ce matin le règlement d’emprunt R-153 d’une valeur de 13 365 906 $, incluant les frais financiers, pour l’acquisition de 76 minibus destinés au transport adapté pour la période 2016 – 2019. Ce règlement d’emprunt doit obtenir par la suite l’approbation du Conseil d’agglomération de Montréal et du ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Occupation du territoire.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to inform its customers that service frequency has been increased on weekdays on the 180 – de Salaberry since last March 30. Indeed, the bus line now offers improved service all day long, with buses every 15 minutes in morning eastbound and afternoon westbound rush hour periods, and 20-minute intervals the rest of the time.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is set to undertake major refurbishing work at Beaubien métro station this spring, which will require the complete closing of the station from May 4 to August 30, 2015, inclusively. Indeed, at its last public meeting, the board of directors awarded a contract to Groupe Axino inc. who will act as the general contractor in charge of all work.

Nuit blanche – by métro, by bus or by shuttle, for all night owls

Once again this year, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is partnering with Nuit blanche, as part of the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival taking place this weekend, February 28 to March 1. Transit users taking part in the festivities can count on expanded transit service, with the métro running all night for the event, four free shuttle routes, night-time paratransit service, in addition to the usual all-night bus service.

Unveiling of the results of the 2013 Origin-Destination survey public transit use during the morning rush hour on the rise

The results of the 10th Origin-Destination (OD) survey were unveiled today. Conducted in fall 2013, the survey of 78,831 households paints a portrait of the daily comings and goings of Greater Montréal area residents and includes all modes of transportation. Société de transport de Montréal (STM) chairman Philippe Schnobb, together with Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) president and CEO Nicolas Girard, and Daniel Bergeron, Vice-president, Strategic Data and Metropolitan Affairs at the AMT, presented the highlights of the survey, which has been carried out every five years since 1970 and is the second largest study of its kind after the national census.
