The STM announces improved service in Côte Vertu Ouest sector

Press release

Enhancement in the Côte-Vertu sector during morning and afternoon peak periods on weekdays, beginning January 7, 2019

Montréal, January 3, 2019 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing a service enhancement in the Côte-Vertu sector during morning and afternoon peak periods on weekdays, beginning January 7, 2019.

The service on the 174 Côte-Vertu-Ouest line will be adjusted to accommodate the beginning and end of work shifts of businesses on Côte-Vertu Ouest Boulevard, west of Highway 40. Westbound service enhancements include eight additional departures between 6 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and three extra departures between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Eastbound service will see three departures added between 6 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and 10 departures between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Côte-Vertu Ouest shared taxibus service will also be enhanced in both directions on Saturdays and Sundays, including public holidays, which will extend the service from 6:15 a.m. to 12:05 a.m. This new schedule aligns with métro departures at Côte-Vertu station and facilitates accessibility to public transportation.

“The additional service is the result of the efforts and understanding between all stakeholders, including the STM, local businesses and Saint-Laurent borough officials. It is a wonderful opportunity for the STM to better serve this booming sector. This initiative is also in line with our new focus on improving the customer experience for Montrealers,” says Philippe Schnobb, Chairman of the STM Board of Directors.

“Providing more reliable and efficient public transportation options for our workers is vital to supporting Montréal’s economic growth. Transportation and mobility are central to our economic development strategy: Montréal all geared up for tomorrow. We are delighted with this service enhancement, which will better serve this major employment hub,” says Éric Alan Caldwell, responsible for urban planning, transportation and the Office de consultation publique de Montréal.

“We are very happy with this excellent news. Enhancement of public transportation in Côte-Vertu Ouest will greatly benefit the employees of this area and will also improve the traffic flow along this artery. This twofold improvement in the level of service is also in line with our Local Transportation Plan, which promotes the optimization of sustainable mobility over the Saint-Laurent territory,” says Alan DeSousa, Mayor of Saint-Laurent.

“We are very happy with this public transportation service improvement. The change will not only serve the people of Dorval, but it will also be extremely useful for workers who have to travel to this area on a daily basis. We are delighted to see that the STM continues to improve public transportation all over the Island of Montréal, particularly in the underserved areas,” says Edgar Rouleau, Mayor of Dorval.
