The 427 Express – St-Joseph:
Bus service direct to downtown!
Montréal, March 24, 2010 – The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced this morning that, as of March 29, the STM will introduce line 427 – Express St-Joseph, a new line with limited stops that will link the boroughs of Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie and Plateau Mont-Royal to downtown. This new service will run every ten minutes, Monday to Friday, during morning and afternoon rush hours and will provide access direct to downtown from 6:45 to 9:00 a.m., and direct from downtown from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. “This new service offer is another step in the development and improvement of our service offer to customers and is a positive reflection of the Société’s efforts to promote the use of public transit,” declared the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STM, Mr. Michel Labrecque. “The improvements resulting from the addition of this line are directly linked to the STM’s network development plan, which calls for improving the speed and efficiency of public transit on the busiest routes as well as improving service in the downtown area and its periphery. In addition, they represent an increase of approximately 15 000 hours of service per year,” the chairman specified. “Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie offers a high quality of residential life close to downtown, and the introduction of line 427 will enhance the attractiveness of the borough for today’s families who want to spend more time with their families and friends,” pointed out the Mayor of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, François W. Croteau. It should be noted that these improvements have been carried out as part of the Société’s service improvement program (PASTEC), which is financed in equal parts by Transports Québec and the Ville de Montréal. “We believe that this new service will be very attractive to those wanting to go downtown by bus, without transferring, while enjoying a greater degree of comfort, as this line will alleviate the heavy ridership on the trains on the métro’s orange line,” concluded Mr. Labrecque. Clients are invited to consult the spring Planibus timetables containing the schedule for this new line.
