June 24 - New fare promotion to encourage downtown métro trips

News

The STM wishes to remind its customers that it will be free to access the métro network from seven stations in downtown Montréal—Peel, McGill, Place-des-Arts, Saint-Laurent, Berri-UQAM, Champ-de-Mars and Place-d’Armes—tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. This exceptional measure, implemented by the City of Montréal in collaboration with the ARTM and the STM, will apply every Saturday, Sunday and holiday until September 5, 2022.

Conditions
On holidays, free access will begin that day—from the time the métro opens to the time it closes at night. On weekends, free access will begin when the métro opens on Saturday morning until the service ends on Sunday night. This means that during the long weekend of the Fête Nationale du Québec starting June 24, access to these seven métro stations will be free from about 5:30 a.m. on Friday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday night. The fare validation equipment will be deactivated to prevent customers from validating their fares by mistake.

Free access from the targeted stations only
Please note that a valid fare is required to access all other métro stations, the bus network and the paratransit service. Customers who are planning on transferring to a bus after travelling from one of these seven métro stations are encouraged to purchase a fare suited for their trips, either at the station or on the bus directly with exact change.
