Origin of the name Rosemont

Having acquired a large tract of land in this neighbourhood from the Canadian Pacific Railway, a land speculator named Ucal-Henri Dandurand and his associate Herbert Holt set up the Angus shops, and sold the leftover land for residential use. In 1905, the area was incorporated as the Village of Rosemont, named after Dandurand's mother, Rose Phillips.
