We're on the Net so you can get out

Montréal, April 17, 1997 - The STCUM officially launched its bilingual website today; containing some 10,000 pages, it is Québec's largest Internet address! In addition to being the first public transit company in Québec to have a web address, the STCUM has created one of the most innovative sites, including Tous Azimuts a trip calculating robot that not only indicates the time a commute will take, but also the walking time involved.

In addition to finding a wealth of interesting information about the Corporation, a customer will be able to find out, among other things, which bus route or métro line to use to reach his or her destination, which bus stop is nearest to his or her home, at what time the bus goes by, what are the transfer points, how much time the commute should take and will even print out a personalised route.

According to the STCUM's General Manager, Mr. Trefflé Lacombe, "with the Internet, the STCUM is at a technological turning point. And it is thanks to the work of its employees that it can now offer its ridership the most complete tool to help it plan its commutes since it groups the information from the Planibus, Infobus and Telbus."

For his part, Mr. Jack H. Chadirdjian, the Board of Directors' Vice Chairman, has surfed the STCUM site on many occasions and is convinced that it will be a great success. His conclusion: "Not only does it contain a wealth of information useful to the community, but the STCUM site is an excellent promotional tool for Montréal and its surrounding area".
