Temporary reserved lane on Bourbonnière Avenue and changes to bus service in the area

News

As a mitigation measure for the Pie-IX BRT project, we will implement a temporary reserved lane for buses and taxis on Bourbonnière between Sherbrooke Street and Rosemont Boulevard in the borough of Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie as of August 14.

This lane will be northbound only. It will be in service from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on weekdays and weekends until 2022 as we carry out work on Pie-IX Boulevard.

The reserved lane will be used by the 139 Pie-IX and the 439 Express Pie-IX. Together, these buses provide some 40,000 trips a day.

Changes to bus service

In response to customer demand, the 139 Pie-IX, which is currently rerouted along streets adjacent to Pie-IX Boulevard going north, will run until around 11:00 p.m. starting August 26. As of 11:00 p.m., the 355 Pie-IX night bus will service Pie-IX Boulevard between Notre-Dame and Henri-Bourassa in both directions. This will reduce travel time because the buses will no longer be rerouted.

The change means that the 139 will end its route earlier (at 11:00 p.m. rather than 1:00 a.m.) on residential streets and the 355 will take over earlier on Pie-IX Boulevard to ensure quiet for residents at night.

Pie-IX BRT

Financed by the Ministère des Transports du Québec, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain and the City of Montréal, the Pie-IX BRT project has three parts:

  • Implementation of an efficient public transportation system
  • Complete refurbishment of municipal infrastructure
  • Improvement of public property

The Pie-IX BRT will have 17 stops (15 in Montréal and two in Laval), spread out over 11 kilometres of Pie-IX Boulevard between Saint-Martin Boulevard in Laval and Pierre-De Coubertin Avenue in Montréal. Expected to be up and running in 2022, it will serve more than 70,000 customers a day.
