Moving sidewalks being replaced at Beaudry métro station

Montreal, 23 January 2006- The Société de transport de Montréal has undertaken renovation work at Beaudry métro station aimed at replacing both moving sidewalks. The work will be carried out over a period of one year and, to lessen the impact on transit users and provide continuous service to street level, the sidewalks will be replaced one at a time. As a result, transit users will only have to use the staircase when heading to the station’s lower level.

The first moving sidewalk should be replaced by mid-July. However, replacement work on the second one will only begin in August to allow for maximum service during the 2006 Outgames, held from July 27 to August 5, which are expected to generate heavy ridership levels at Beaudry station located in the heart of the city’s gay village.

The STM apologizes for any inconvenience this situation may create for transit users and thanks them for their understanding. When planning their transportation while this work is being carried out, clients are invited to call STM-INFO
(786-4636) or to consult either the STM system map or website (www.stm.info) for more useful transit information.
