Bicycles are only permitted in the head end carThe STM allows passengers to travel by métro with their bicycle. However, there are rules to follow to avoid disrupting the passenger traffic flow and compromising their safety.

Métro users, over 14 years of age or accompanied by an adult, may transport their bicycle from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and after 7:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday as well as all day Saturday, Sunday and holidays, on the condition that they board the first car of the train which can let in a maximum of 4 bicycles.

Métro user with bicyclePersons transporting a bicycle are asked to let the other passengers board and exit the car first. During the ride, cyclists must stay by their bicycle at all times and not let it rest against seats or any other métro equipment or installation. It is also strictly forbidden to ride a bicycle anywhere inside a métro station. Accordingly, it is also forbidden to ride a tricycle, an unicycle, a Foot-propelled scooter, a skateboard or roller skates in a métro station. It is forbidden as well to leave, permanently or temporarily, a bicycle in a métro station. It is not permitted to carry a Motorised scooters in métro stations because they are equipped with a gas tank, and by-law R-036 forbids to carry hazardous materials in public transit.

Bicycle parking at Mont-Royal stationFor safety reasons, bicycles cannot access the métro when certain special events are held. Please consult the list of events to come. The STM can forbid access to bicycles in the métro on any other event – planned or not – that could generate crowds in the system. The STM has installed bicycle stands alongside most métro stations for the convenience of cyclists.
