Painter Gabriel Bastien and mosaicist Andrea Vau created this Venetian marble mosaic for one of the station’s platform walls. It depicts the founding banquet of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste, surrounded with images representing some of the society’s accomplishments.

Andrea Vau also created a mosaic for the well-known Da Giovanni restaurant on rue Sainte-Catherine in Montréal.

About the artists

Born in Montréal, painter Gabriel Bastien (1923-1977) co-founded the École professionnelle d’art commercial in 1960. Born in Buia, Italy, Andrea Vau (1934-1997) came to Canada in the mid-1950s to pursue his calling as a mosaicist.
