Tour de L'Zle
Modification to STM services
Montreal, 5 June 2003 The Société de transport de Montréal wishes to inform its customers that special conditions will apply concerning the access to bicycles in the métro during the Tour de LZle on Sunday 8 June next.
As of 6 a.m., users carrying a bicycle will only be admitted at Henri-Bourassa, Côte-Vertu, Angrignon, Radisson, Longueuil, Snowdon et Saint-Michel stations. And for the return trip after the event, Laurier, Fabre and Berri-UQAM stations will be the only stations where the access will be permitted with a bicycle. Also, it will not be possible to transfer between métro lines. All stations will be accessible again to cyclists after 6 p.m.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Customers carrying a bicycle only have access to the trains leading car, and a train cannot carry more than 16 bicycles. Cyclists should also know that in the event of an emergency train evacuation, bicycles would have to be left in the car for the safety of passengers. The STM would like to remind everyone that, it is forbidden to ride a tricycle, an unicycle, a Foot-propelled scooter, a skateboard or roller skates in a métro station, as well as in a public transit vehicle.
Increased métro service
In order to allow a maximum of cyclists to take advantage of the métro, trains will be added on all four line. Whereas the usual Sunday service is a train every 10 to 12 minutes, it will be increased to one every 5 to 6 minutes for the occasion.
métro users should consider purchasing their return fares on their way to the event, if theyd like to avoid line ups at the end of the Tour. For the respect of all passengers, we address our thanks to customers carrying a bicycle in the métro for observing the rules.
Some bus routes modified during the event
Since some streets have to be closed for the event, temporary modifications must be brought to about 40 bus routes. Thus, there will be no service from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the 14-Amherst bus route, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 34-Sainte-Catherine bus route, and from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. on the 99-Villeray bus route.
Transit users are invited to call the TELBUS number featured on their bus stop panel when planning their transportation. For specific trip information, please call A-U-T-O-B-U-S (288-6287). Additional information can be found on the STMs Web site at www.stm.info.
Paratransit
Since many steets will be closed for the day, Paratransit vehicles will only offer limited service. The Paratransit Centre will have to cancel all planned trips. In addition, some transportation requests might be rejected. We strongly recommend that users contact the Paratransit Customer Service to have their trips confirmed.
