COVID-19 : your STM subscription

In April 2020, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitaine (ARTM) offered active customers the option to suspend their OPUS à l’année and OPUS & Cie subscriptions due to the public health emergency.

This offer included:

  • Payment, to be applied after the lifting of the state of emergency, of the value of the monthly fare subscription debited in March
  • Suspension of debits for the May and June 2020 monthly fare subscriptions

Due to current situation, ARTM is extending the suspension offer, allowing subscribers to suspend debit payments and the use of their subscription, while maintaining its advantages.

This new suspension offer is reserved for customers who subscribe to the OPUS à l’année or OPUS & Cie programs, as of April 1, 2020 and who are still active subscribers on June 1, 2020.

Different terms based on whether the suspension was activated in April and May.

For subscribers who suspended their subscriptions before April 13, 2020

  • The suspension will happen automatically.
  • The debits normally scheduled for June 15 and July 15 2020 (July and August fares) will be suspended.
  • The payment debited in March 2020 will be applied to the September fare*.
  • Subscribers may therefore start reusing as of September 1 their subscription fare.

*Customers who decide to terminate their subscription contract will not be able to recover this payment.

If a customer activated the suspension in April and asks to reactivate their subscription before September, their March debit payment can be applied to the first billable payment.

For subscribers who did not suspend their subscriptions before April 13, 2020

  • The suspension will not be automatic. To register, the customer must make a request by selecting the “Add offer” option on the online subscription platform at the following address: https://stm.fusiumsolutions.com/#/login.
  • The deadline to register is June 10, 2020, at 11:59 p.m.
  • If the customer activates the suspension, the debits normally scheduled for June 15 and July 15 2020 (July and August fares) will be suspended.
  • Their subscription payments will resume on August 15 for the September 2020 fare.

No offer will be made retroactively for April to June 2020 to new customers who had not suspended their  subscription before April 13, 2020.

Providing false or misleading information to receive a fare reduction constitutes fraud and is subject to criminal prosecution.

Customers who provide false or misleading information could have their OPUS card deactivated and will not be able to take advantage of the Offer.

This Offer cannot be combined with any other fare offer.

Under this exceptional measure, no amount will be charged to your account for the months listed below, and you will maintain your subscription privileges.

For subscribers who suspended their subscriptions before April 13, 2020

  • Their subscriptions will be suspended for April, May, June, July and August 2020.
  • The payment debited in March 2020 will be applied to the September fare or a later fare once the state of emergency is lifted, depending on whether or not it is extended*.

For subscribers who did not suspend their subscriptions before April 13, 2020

  • Their subscriptions will be suspended in July and August 2020.
  • Debit payments will resume on August 15, 2020, for the September fare.

Subscribers who suspend their subscription and still want to continue using public transit on an occasional basis during this suspension,  are responsible for purchasing a valid transit fare.

This offer applies to subscribers to the OPUS à l’année and OPUS & Cie programs (as well as exo’s OPUS+ and OPUS+ entreprise programs) who cannot use public transit due to the current state of health emergency.

Monthly passes purchased from OPUS en ligne, a fare vending machine, an authorized retailer or a ticket agent are not eligible for this ARTM initiative.

All subscribers with an active subscription since or before April 1, 2020 and who are still active on June 1, 2020, may request a subscription suspension.

Your subscription will be suspended for July and August 2020. You will have to stop using the OPUS card on which your subscription is loaded for these two months. Keep your OPUS card, as you can continue using it once your subscription is re-activated. If you wish to take advantage of this offer and continue to use STM services for these two months, it is your responsibility to purchase another valid transit fare for your trips using a different OPUS card than the one provided to you for free for your transit subscription. 

Yes, all OPUS à l’année and OPUS & Cie subscribers wanting to get a BIXI pass are eligible for the Annual combo – save $59 promotion. You can activate the promotion on the online platform or by phone at 514-333-9815. You will receive a promo code that you can use when you sign up online on BIXI’s website.

No. The offer is not transferable and is only valid for the debits normally scheduled for June 15 and July 15 2020 (July and August fares).

Customers who decide to terminate their subscription contracts will not be able to recover the payment for the April 2020 fare.

 

For subscribers who suspended their subscriptions before April 13, 2020

you may cancel the suspension by the following dates:

  • Until June 10 inclusive to cancel the suspension for June, July and August 2020
  • Between June 11 and July 10 inclusive to cancel the suspension for July and August 2020
  • Between July 11 and August 10 inclusive to cancel the suspension for August 2020

For subscribers who did not suspend their subscriptions before before April 13, 2020

you may cancel the suspension by the following dates:

  • Until June 10 inclusive for a subscription cancellation for July and August 2020
  • Between June 11 and July 10 inclusive for a subscription cancellation for August 2020
 

Yes, you will retain all the advantages, including Maestro, the loyalty fare and the BIXI promotion associated with your subscriber profile.  

No, you cannot keep using your card. As your subscription is suspended, it is your responsibility to purchase another valid transit fare using a different OPUS card than the one provided to you for free for your transit subscription. You can also purchase some transit fares on L’Occasionnelle chip cards or magnetic fare cards.

 

Subscribers who suspended their subscriptions before April 13, 2020:

You don’t have to do anything. The suspension will be extended automatically

Subscribers who did not suspend their subscription before April 13, 2020:

You have to request it. Log in to the subscription platform and check the appropriate option. You will receive an email containing the relevant links  by June 1, 2020.

The emails were scheduled to be sent to everyone by June 1, 2020. Make sure to check the email account that you used to register as well as your spam folder.

If you do not receive the email, you may not be eligible for fare compensation. Check the eligibility criteria.

You will receive an automated call indicating the steps to take in the coming days. However, you do not have to wait for this automated call. You can call STM or Fusium customer service to request the offer:

2020 Loyalty fare

  1. Valid for all full fare OPUS à l’année subscribers who have already benefited from the 1 exta month free promotion. 
  2. Subscribers who meet all criteria will automatically qualify for the promotion.
  3. Offer applies to subscriptions that began no later than January 1, 2019.
  4. To qualify for this promotion, members cannot suspend or otherwise interrupt their annual subscription; if subscription is cancelled and member subscribes again, said member will be excluded from this promotion.
  5. This promotion can be combined, exclusively, with these reward programs:

The advantages

On the 12th day of the first month and the 15th day of each subsequent month, the cost of the monthly pass will be automatically debited to your bank account or credit card, whichever you choose.


Your monthly fares will automatically be loaded on your OPUS card. No need to think about it, no need for extra trips every month!

You'll receive a new OPUS card free of charge. Your card will be activated and ready for use from the very first day of the month your subscription begins. If you did not receive your OPUS card on the first day of the month, go to one of the STM customer service points to get a new card free of charge.

Have you lost your card? No problem! As it is now registered. Go to a point of service with a photo ID. You will be given a new OPUS card charged with any fares remaining on the old card. You will pay only the cost of a new OPUS card.

 

Your subscription to the program remains in effect each month until you decide to terminate it. You cannot suspend your annual subscription. Once it is cancelled, you will lose all the benefits associated with your annual subscription. 

To cancel your subscription, you must inform us before the 10th day of the month in which you want it to end. For example, if you want to terminate your subscription on October 31, you must advise us before October 10.

When does your subscription begin?

Subscribe before the 11th of the month to have your subscription begin the first of the following month.

For example,

  • If you subscribe on October 8, your subscription will begin on November 1.
  • If you subscribe on October 14, your subscription will begin on December 1.

The basic idea 

  • You subscribe online. 
  • Once your registration is completed, you print your confirmation email and go to a Customer Service Centre to obtain your photo ID OPUS card, which will be loaded with monthly passes. If you already have a photo ID OPUS card, you may choose to keep it (until its expiry date) or get a new card at the rate in force. In both cases, you will have to visit the Customer Service Centre to activate your subscription.
  • The first debit will be applied at the Customer Service Centre. Then you will pay each month by automatically debiting your bank account or your credit card, until you end your subscription.

It’s that simple.

When will your subscription begin?

After subscribing online and printing your confirmation email, visit a Customer Service Centre to obtain your photo ID OPUS card. For your subscription to be valid in the current month, visit the Customer Service Centre no later than the 10th day of the month. As of the 11th day, your subscription will be valid for the following month.

For example:

  • If you visit on October 10, your subscription will begin for the current month (October) or November 1, as you choose.
  • If you visit on October 11, your subscription will begin only on November 1.

Lost or damaged card

In the event of a lost or damaged card, go to the STM Customer service centre or one of its service points as soon as possible to have it replaced.

Upon presentation of personal identification and validation of your subscription, a new OPUS card will be issued in your name containing the monthly fare that was already on the lost or damaged card. You will be charged the replacement fee currently in effect.

Unsubscribing

Your subscription to the program will continue each month, until you decide to end it. You may terminate your subscription by giving advance notice by email to stm@fusiumsolutions.com, by phone to 514-333-9815 or via your online account.

A request for such cancellation received between the 11th day of the preceding month and the 10th day (inclusively) of the current month will take effect on the last day of that month. 
For example: to cancel your subscription at December 31, your cancellation notification must be received by the STM between November 11 and December 10 inclusively. If the notice is received on December 11 or later, the subscription will end January 31.
