On the south side of Place Gérald-Godin, a huge mural by Richard Purdy and François Hébert reproduces a poem by Gérald Godin. Entitled Tango de Montréal, it begins: “Seven thirty a.m. in the Montréal métro…”
Did you know?
After the mural was unveiled, one of the bricks had to be replaced because of an error in Godin’s original poem.
About the artists
Born in Ottawa in 1953, Richard Purdy has worked as an interdisciplinary artist since the mid-1970s. In 1991, he and François Hébert founded Les Industries Perdues, an artistic collaboration that produced 19 works of public art.
