Montréal, September 16, 2013 – A partner of In Town Without My Car day since it was launched eleven years ago, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) offers a host of activities to help make September 20 a day-long celebration of sustainable mobility.
Between 7 and 9 a.m., STM squads will be on hand in three downtown métro stations (Square-Victoria, Bonaventure, and Lucien-L’Allier) to thank customers. A few Étoiles du métro musicians will also be there to enliven the proceedings.
More than 80 cities and transport companies around the world, including the STM, will make their voices heard during the Grow with Public Transport campaign – an initiative of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), which aims to promote the growth and improvement of public transport to create better urban living environments. Montréalers are already the biggest users of public transit in North America and, with the support of decision makers, we can go even further!
Montréal, August 22, 2013 – Between now and mid-October, STM photographers will be visiting more than 130 secondary schools, CEGEPs, and universities. This will allow students to quickly renew their reduced fare OPUS cards while avoiding last-minute line-ups.
To receive their reduced fare OPUS card, students must have with them the following items:
As planned, after major renovations, the Jolicoeur métro station will re-open on Monday, August 26. Work on this station – originally opened in 1978 – had become necessary since certain components had reached the end of their useful life. The work focused primarily on the station’s structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical components.
Some work remains to be finished in the coming weeks, including landscaping and window repairs, but this will present no danger to STM customers.
