Montréal, le 13 septembre 2018 – Dans la foulée de la première rencontre tenue le 12 septembre avec le médiateur nommé par la ministre du Travail, la STM réitère son engagement à continuer de collaborer pleinement aux travaux pour le renouvellement de la convention collective avec les représentants syndicaux des employés d’entretien, comme elle l’a fait au cours des 91 rencontres de négociation tenues jusqu’à présent.
La STM souhaite en venir à une entente dans les meilleurs délais, avec pour objectif premier qu’elle soit bénéfique pour les clients.
The STM once again stresses that it wants to reach an agreement with its maintenance employees union as soon as possible, first and foremost for the benefit of transit users. The STM is thus committed to full cooperation with the mediator, in the same spirit as during the 91 negotiation meetings held so far with the union representatives.
The 60-day mediation period prescribed by law will begin as of the initial discussions with the mediator. The STM has announced that its representatives will be fully available as of September 12, as requested.

The current entrance building will be completely demolished to make way for a brand-new building with a design focused on light and transparency, which will also include a green roof. The work will also involve the addition of new stairs leading to the platforms, the addition of a walkway linking the two elevators, the construction of a fare booth at street level for the relocation of the fare collection area, and the construction of three natural light shafts.
Ainsi, l’édicule actuel sera complètement démoli pour faire place à un tout nouvel édicule dont le concept misera sur la lumière et la transparence. Par ailleurs, un toit vert y sera aménagé. Les travaux comprendront également l’ajout de nouveaux escaliers menant aux quais, l’ajout d’une passerelle reliant les deux ascenseurs, la construction d’une loge au niveau de la rue afin de relocaliser la zone de perception et la construction de trois puits de ventilation naturelle.
The effects are still being felt from the maintenance employees’ overtime strike, from May 6 to 12 this year, and the subsequent pressure tactics. Some 160 buses, about 10% of the peak-period requirement, are still not available to deliver the full scheduled service. This situation will mean service reductions on certain lines. Unfortunately, we are unable to determine in advance the lines or sectors that will be affected, as all of the bus garages are involved.

C’est que les conséquences de la grève de temps supplémentaire des employés d’entretien, menée du 6 au 12 mai 2018, et des moyens de pression qui s’en sont suivis se font toujours sentir. En effet, quelque 160 bus, soit environ 10 % des effectifs nécessaires aux heures de pointe, ne sont toujours pas disponibles pour offrir la totalité du service planifié. Cette situation se traduit donc par des coupures de passages sur certaines lignes.
