Built on the university’s campus, this station chiefly serves its students. The station’s architect produced two murals made from terra-cotta blocks of varying shapes and sizes.
Did you know?
The mural in the station’s main volume refers to the four classical elements of the universe (air, water, fire, and earth). The mural at the end of the walkway over the tracks contains diagonal patterns pointing the way to the exit.
About the artist
Born in Montréal in 1946, André Léonard is the architect of three métro stations: Villa-Maria, Henri-Bourassa (west access) and Université-de-Montréal. He later worked with the Montréal regional parks service and took part in the renovation of the central building of the Botanical Garden.
