Better and more frequent service

We’re adding three new rush-hour high-frequency lines, allowing time gains to even more customers in these areas:

  Verdun

  Airlie

  Express Victoria

Faster, more direct access to the métro and downtown, making it easy to reach the city centre and major transit networks.

Clearer, more simple and straightforward bus routes, so picking the best travel option is a breeze.

A redesigned network that simplifies travel between boroughs, improving local bus service.

Frequently asked questions

No. The bus network redesign affects daytime service only.

Despite our best efforts to optimize service, the reality is that changing a bus network as big as the STM’s will make some trips more efficient and others less so.

In some cases, that might mean a longer walk or an extra bus transfer. However, our current network usage data indicates that the redesign will benefit six times more trips than it will inconvenience.

Buses 107 Verdun, 112 Airlie and 496 Express Victoria will be added to the rush-hour high-frequency lines already in service : the 90 Saint-Jacques and the 406 Express Newman, which will become the 106 Newman.

Most bus shelters of stops relocated in the redesign will be moved elsewhere in the area. That said, since there are many bus shelters that need to be relocated, and it’s a technically complex process (pour the concrete slabs, hook up the electricity, etc.), some bus shelters will not be replaced until after the launch of the redesign in late August 2024.

The REM YUL-Montréal-Trudeau airport station is scheduled to open in 2027 according to CDPQ Infra. It is indeed planned to make certain adjustments to the bus network at this time to ensure a connection to this new REM station. Details of this bus connection will be communicated in due course.

What’s the bus network redesign project?

We’re redesigning the bus network, sector by sector, to make it even more appealing and efficient. The redesign takes into account Montréal’s major public transit projects, mobility needs, and urban development.

Through public consultations, our own research, and collaboration with our partners, we’re developing bus routes that better meet the expectations and travel needs of our community.
