Modification of Bus Routes Due to the Saint-Patrick Day's Parade Sunday, March 16
{C}Montréal, March 13, 1997{C} - The STCUM wishes to inform its ridership that changes will be made to some hours in the itinerary of several bus routes due to the 173rd Saint-Patrick Day's Parade which will be held in downtown Montréal on Sunday March 16, 1997.

Service Increased on Métro Lines 1 and 2
Montréal, March 9, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to inform its customers that as of March 10, it will increase service on lines 1 and 2 of the métro during rush hour. This measure will reduce the crowding on board the trains thus making the ride more comfortable for commuters.
Laurier Station
Reopening of the Laurier Street Access
Montréal, March 7, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to inform its customers that the secondary Laurier Station access, located on Laurier Street, will reopen on Monday, March 10 as the restoration work on the stairs will have been completed. These renovations were done within the framework of the historical buildings preservation program.
Two Measures Aimed at Improving Customer Service in the Métro
Montréal, March 6, 1997 - In order to improve customer service within the métro, the STCUM is taking a step forward with two new measures. The first, the increase of service on lines 1 and 2 during rush hour, will be in effect as of Monday March 10, 1997, and the second, the "Customer-Communication within the station" trial project is beginning today in six stations.
Laurier Station
Temporary closing of the Laurier Street entrance
Montréal, February 20, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to advise its customers that the secondary entrance on Laurier Street will be temporarily closed from February 24 to March 9 inclusively in order to allow maintenance work to be done on the stairs.
The only access to Laurier Station during the renovation period will be through the main entrance located at the corner of Berri and Saint-Joseph streets.

STCUM Tickets Will be Available by the Dozen!
Montréal, February 20, 1997 - As of March 1, 1997, the STCUM is eliminating the six-ticket strip and replacing it with the 12-ticket book. Offering a more practical format to the 75% of users that already purchase 12 or more tickets each month, it also maintains the 28% reduction by selling the book at the same price as the strip x 2, i.e. $16 for the regular rate tickets and $8 for the reduced rate tickets.
Renovations to the original métro network
The STCUM Is Asking Québec to Take Part in the Extension of the National Infrastructures Program
Montréal, February 5, 1997 - The members of the STCUM Board of Directors have ruled to present a request to the Québec Government that it be allowed to take part in the extension of the National Infrastructures Program so that it may be applicable to urban transportation infrastructures.
Mr. L'Heureux, the Happy Winner of the CAM EXTRA Contest
{C}Montréal, February 3, 1997 -{C} - Last January 28, Mr. Trefflé Lacombe, the STCUM's Chairman, presented Mr. Benoît L'Heureux with the grand prize of last fall's CAM Extra contest which consisted of two plane tickets and a one-week stay at the Club Med in the Dominican Republic, a prize valued at $4,000.
The Lisbon Métro Donates an Important Work of Art to the STCUM
Montréal, February 3, 1997 - The STCUM is proud to have been selected by the Metropolitano de Lisboa to receive a magnificent sculpture by Joao Charters de Almeida, which will be erected this fall beside the Île-Sainte-Hélène métro station.

The STCUM Will Replace 79 Métro Escalators
Montréal, January 28, 1997 - Following a call for bids process, the STCUM has granted the contract for the replacement of 79 first-generation Westinghouse escalators in the métro network to CNIM CANADA INC. This contract is worth about 35 million dollars of which the ministère des Transports du Québec, through its Programme d'aide au transport en commun (public transit assistance program), will provide close to 24 million dollars.
