Sunday Service on the 12 Île-des-Soeurs Bus Route
Beginning January 14, 2007

Montreal, January 11, 2007 - The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to remind its clients that Sunday service will be provided on the 12 – Île-des-Sœurs bus route beginning next January 14. Sunday service will be the same as offered Saturdays, with 32-minute intervals between buses from 10:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“This is very good news for Verdun residents and business owners. Indeed, Sunday service on the 12 – Île-des-Sœurs bus route is the result of my commitment to improving access to Nun’s Island from Verdun. It is one more step in the development and improvement of our offer of service to transit users,” declared Claude Trudel, chairman of the STM board of directors.

“The time needed to travel between Lasalle station and Nun’s Island using the métro’s Green line and the 168 bus route was about 40 minutes on Sundays. With the added Sunday service on the 12 bus route, passengers will save over 30 minutes, because the bus will only need about 9 minutes to travel the same distance,” added Mr. Trudel.

Modifying service on this bus route meant an additional 473 hours of service for 2007 and required an additional bus for Sunday service.

When planning their transportation, STM clients are invited to obtain their new Planibus timetables, available aboard buses until January 12, 2007, and at all times, in PDF format, from the STM website (www.stm.info), allowing clients to print as many copies as they wish. Bus stop codes featured in the Planibus are also included, as well the complete list. These five-digit codes appear on bus stop panels, enabling transit users to find out the times at which the next buses will go by their stop simply by calling A U-T-O-B-U-S (514 288-6287). For all other information, including travel directions on the Island of Montréal, transit users can call STM-INFO (514 786-4636).
