The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is launching a new summer outreach campaign to encourage better bus-bike road sharing, in collaboration with the City of Montréal.

In an effort to promote the best possible bus-bike road sharing, the STM is sharing reminders and tips to make the road safer for cyclists, such as staying behind a bus when it is at a stop or red light. This prevents cyclists from ending up in the bus’s blind spots when it starts moving again.

Always signal and keep your distance

Being on the road requires a driver’s full attention at all times. When cycling, it is important to make sure that the driver can see you by making eye contact. It is also strongly recommended that cyclists stay as far to the right as possible and always signal their intents clearly. This allows drivers to anticipate your movements and prepare accordingly.

The campaign will be rolled out until August 30 throughout the bus network and on social media. For more information, visit the website.
