The 89 - Gouin/Perras is here to stay !

Montreal, 12 October 2005 - Following the introduction of the 89 Gouin/Perras bus route, the STM is satisfied with the promising results achieved so far. Indeed, every day, about 750 clients make the most of the advantages provided by this new service.

Launched on August 29, 2005, as part of the project to redesign bus service in the east end of the Island of Montréal initiated in 2004, the 89 – Gouin/Perras bus route offers residents of high-rise buildings on Gouin Boulevard a direct link with the métro’s orange line and the Rivière-des-Prairies CLSC. The route taken by buses is similar to the 48 – Perras, but here buses deviate onto Ozias-Leduc, in addition to Gouin and Langelier Boulevards. The limited number of stops between Rolland street and Henri-Bourassa station also ensures fast, direct service to the métro.

As pointed out by Marcel Parent, mayor of Montréal-Nord borough, « Only by working with citizens can a public administration best serve their needs. In 2004, the STM began introducing major improvements to bus service in the east end and has always paid attention to what transit users had to say. Adding the 89 – Gouin/Perras bus route proves it once more, and I can assure you that this bus route is here to stay ! »
