Chair of the STM Board of Directors announces search for two new members representing customers

Press release

From December 13 to 27 inclusive, Montrealers are invited to participate

Montréal, December 13, 2021 – Éric Alan Caldwell, the new Chair of the Board of Directors of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), and Laurence Parent, the new Vice-Chair, are launching a call for applications to fill two member positions, representing bus and métro public transit customers and Transport adapté customers, respectively.

“Launching this call for applications for two customer representative positions aligns with values that matter to me—openness, transparency and connection with customers,” says Éric Alan Caldwell, City Councillor for Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, member of the City of Montréal Executive Committee and Chair of the STM Board of Directors. “This initiative reflects the importance of governance for this new Board of Directors that I have the honour of chairing. It is also a great opportunity to democratize the role and main functions of the STM Board of Directors for our customers.”

“This unique invitation provides an opportunity for customers to join the Board of Directors and contribute their expertise and experience in public transit to the STM’s social mission,” says Laurence Parent, Borough Councillor for Le Plateau-Mont-Royal and Vice-Chair of the STM Board of Directors. “The STM considers diversity to be a true asset and understands the importance of representation within its governing bodies. We therefore encourage women, Indigenous people, visible and ethnic minorities and people with disabilities to apply for the roles. We invite you to self-identify in your application.”

Call for applications

From December 13 to 27 inclusive, Montrealers are invited to submit applications via the STM website, where they will find the application form and full information, including the eligibility criteria, terms and desired experience profile for the two open positions on the board.

Submissions and processing of applications with the greatest potential will be coordinated by the Corporate Secretariat of the Société de transport de Montréal. The City of Montréal, acting through its agglomeration council, reserves the right to the final decision. The decision will be made in January 2022.

The STM will be promoting this call for applications and ensuring that it reaches the greatest possible number of people by sharing the news on its primary social media accounts, in newsletters and on its website.
