The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announces the reopening of Fabre and D’Iberville stations on Wednesday, October 9 at 10 am. However, Saint-Michel station will remain closed until further notice.
Technical modifications to the signaling and train control systems have been completed to allow reversing maneuvers from Iberville station. To carry out these modifications, the STM had to design them, then validate them as well as ensure that the premises were secure enough to allow its employees safe access. Faced with an exceptional situation, the STM acted quickly to allow both stations to reopen.
Special shuttle bus service update
The special shuttle service will continue in both directions, but only between D’Iberville and Saint-Michel stations until the latter reopens.
Current situation at Saint-Michel
On the evening of October 3, the STM had to close the stations after discovering unexpected damage to a main bean above the tracks at Saint-Michel station during ongoing renovation work. The damage consisted of delaminated concrete and split reinforcement.
To date, the engineering teams have collected data on the site and begun designing the interventions. This design work is ongoing. The next step will be to implement the work. The STM will communicate the planned schedule once the design of the interventions has been completed.
The STM apologizes for any inconvenience this exceptional situation may cause its customers. These are extraordinary and temporary measures. Further updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
Media availability
Marie-Claude Léonard, CEO of the STM, will be available on Wednesday, October 9, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at D'Iberville station, corner of Jean-Talon and Louis-Hébert, to brief journalists on the reopening of the stations.
