Catherine Boucher has been appointed to the STM Board of Directors as a designated representative of public transit customers and member under 35. She succeeds Claudia Lacroix Perron, whose term is coming to an end after almost 14 years of service.
Catherine Boucher, a CPA auditor and management consultant, was selected to join the Board of Directors of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) following a call for applications issued this past November.
Of the 366 people who applied, Boucher stood out for her in-depth understanding of the financial realities of public transit agencies and her professional skills, which complement those of the Board’s other members. Until recently, she was a consultant with Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, where she worked on performance audits of Québec’s public transit agencies commissioned by the Ministère du Transport et de la Mobilité durable.
“It’s an honour to welcome Ms. Boucher to the STM Board of Directors,” says STM Board Chair Éric Alan Caldwell. “She’s well versed in the challenges facing the STM and impressed us with her insight, thoroughness, and integrity, all of which make her an asset to the STM and its Board.”
During the call for applications, Montréal residents were invited to apply on the STM website between November 1 and 17, 2024. Due to the nature of the position, only candidates aged 35 and under were considered. The STM Corporate Secretariat coordinated the application process and conducted interviews to identify and recommend the candidates with the greatest potential. The City of Montréal, acting through its agglomeration council, made the final selection on February 20, 2025.
End of term for the Board’s longest-standing member
Boucher is being appointed to replace Claudia Lacroix Perron, who joined the Board in 2011 as its first customer representative and member under 35.
Having earned the trust of several municipal administrations, Perron is the longest-standing member of the STM Board of Directors, with a term of 14 years.
She has served on almost every Board committee, and many of her peers have praised her professionalism, transparency, and ability to rise above partisan issues.
“It’s been a real pleasure working with Ms. Perron these past few years, and I wish her all the best in her future endeavours,” says Caldwell.
