Montréal, April 7, 2016 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing enhancements to service on the 70 – Bois-Francs and 48 – Perras bus lines, as well as to Senneville shared taxi service starting this summer.
« These measures follow in the wake of the strategic approach based on improving the transit experience for Montrealers. They are included in the 45,000 hours of additional service planned for 2016. Targeted services will be added for the purpose of tangibly improving the situation for customers, » stated Philippe Schnobb, chairman of the STM board of directors.
« Enhancing service on the 70 - Bois-Francs bus line is excellent news for Saint-Laurent borough residents, particularly those living in the Bois-Francs sector who will enjoy excellent bus service to the métro, at all time. This improvement in STM service, like the program to deploy bus priority measures, will make it possible for more Montrealers to abandon single-car use and instead turn to active and shared means of public transportation, » added Aref Salem, Montréal executive committee member responsible for transportation.
Starting next June 20, the 70 – Bois-Francs bus line, running through Saint-Laurent borough, will be improved through the addition of weekend service to Côte-Vertu métro station. This added service will better serve the Nouveau-Saint-Laurent/Bois-Francs residential neighbourhood, where demand for public transit service is growing.
Furthermore, the STM will extend the route taken by the 48 – Perras bus line, following the establishment of a new bus terminus at the Rivière-des-Prairies commuter train station on the Mascouche line, introduced into service in December 2014. Indeed, the recent opening of boulevard Maurice-Duplessis allows buses to reach the train station. Starting next June 20, service will be provided seven days a week in an effort to improve access to transit for Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles borough residents wishing to travel to or from that station.
Lastly, starting July 11, the Senneville shared taxi service will be extended to Saturdays and Sundays, with the same weekday schedules and conditions for use. An additional stop at the corner of Cap-Saint-Jacques / Gouin will provide a better transfer point with the 68 – Pierrefonds bus line, particularly for customers heading to Cégep Gérald-Godin.
