ARTM initiative to optimize paratransit services

Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) initiative to optimize paratransit services in Greater Montréal

Frequently asked questions

The STM’s paratransit service will continue to operate unchanged. You can continue to book trips as normal.

The initiative is still in its early stages. We’ll keep you updated as it progresses.

The initiative aims to find possible ways of optimizing the management of paratransit services across Greater Montréal, with minimal impact on the customer experience.

From the outset, we intend to position the STM as the obvious choice for managing paratransit in Greater Montréal. We have extensive expertise in this field and currently serve 12,000 paratransit users daily, delivering over 4 million trips every year. Our strength has always lied in providing quality service at every step of the customer journey, from booking to post-trip follow-up.

The initiative is being launched because transit agencies in Greater Montréal are experiencing increased demand for paratransit services due to an aging population. Public transit is also facing considerable funding challenges. For both these reasons, it’s essential that we delve deeper into optimizing our services.

Our priority will remain the same: to provide you with the quality services you enjoy today. Rest assured, your paratransit service is here to stay.

The initiative is still in its early stages, so it’s too soon to provide a specific timeline. We’ll keep you updated as the initiative progresses. In the meantime, Customer Service is available to answer any questions you may have about our current services.
