Magnetic card

Description

Magnetic cards allow you to make a single trip on the bus, métro, train and REM networks in Zone A.

The following transit fares can be purchased on a magnetic card

Magnetic cards may be purchased from ticket booth attendants or from vending machines in metro stations. If you pay cash aboard a bus, you will be given a ticket.

  • When it is validated, the date and time are stamped on the back, and you have 120 minutes to complete your trip. The fare charged on the card allows you to transfer between metro and bus lines.
  • You may purchase a magnetic card for use at a later time. The expiry date is printed on the back of the ticket.
  • The fare charged on the card allows you to transfer between metro, bus lines, trains and REM trains in Zone A.

Note

The fares charged on magnetic cards do not allow you to make return trips or to interrupt your trip and take another bus on the same route. You may not return to the metro system once you leave it.

Using magnetic cards


In the metro

  1. Insert your card in the red slot in the front of the turnstyle.
  2. Validation will be confirmed by a green or yellow light and an audio signal (beep).
  3. Retrieve your card and keep it for use as a transfer and as proof of payment.

 
On the bus

  1. Insert your card in the slot in the fare box.
  2. Validation will be confirmed by a green or yellow light and an audio signal (beep).
  3. Retrieve your card and keep it for use as a transfer and as proof of payment.

Note

You may be asked to show your card to an inspector during your trip, so keep it readily available.
