The STM invites its client to join the global movement and say "thank you" to its bus drivers and métro operators on the Transit Driver Appreciation Day on March 18.
On March 18, the STM will celebrate Transit Driver Appreciation Day for the first time. A popular initiative in Canada and the United States, this day celebrates our bus drivers and métro operators. This year, the day holds an even greater significance, in light of the many challenges our front-line employees have faced to keep providing public transit customers with safe transportation despite the pandemic.
Every day, our over 3,800 bus drivers and over 380 métro operators work hard behind the wheel or at the controls. On this special day, the STM would like to commend these employees for their dedication and professionalism and highlight the important work they do to enable Montrealers, particularly essential workers during the pandemic, to get where they need to be.
Though we should show our appreciation every day of the year, today, the STM particularly encourages customers to thank drivers while boarding the bus and wave to métro operators. You can also share your testimonies and thank yous on social media using #mercichauffeur. Together, let’s make March 18 a day for our transit drivers to remember.
