The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has decided to temporarily take out of service 181 of its articulated buses as a preventive measure following the detection of a cooling system failure in certain vehicles.
The cooling system is designed to dissipate excess heat and maintain the engine at its optimal operating temperature.
“The safety of our customers and employees is at the heart of every decision we make. We are doing everything possible to minimize service impacts and to obtain the replacement parts needed to complete repairs over the coming days,” said Nathalie Clément, Executive Director, Planning, Service Delivery and Customer Experience.
The manufacturer, Nova Bus, which is responsible for supplying replacement parts, is working closely with the STM to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Out of a total of 220 articulated buses, 181 are currently parked while inspections and repairs are carried out. This may result in additional crowding and service disruptions on some lines.
