STM maintenance union members ratify their agreement

Press release

The 2,400 members of the Syndicat du transport de Montréal (maintenance services employees) voted 86% in favour of the agreement reached on March 24. This marks the fourth collective agreement ratified in recent months among the STM’s six employee groups.

“I am very pleased that the members have ratified the agreement. We chose to prioritize a negotiated settlement, which is always preferable for maintaining positive labour relations. I commend the joint efforts of both parties to respect the financial framework through compromises on all sides,” said STM Chief Executive Officer Marie‑Claude Léonard.

The STM Board of Directors also approved the agreement.

Negotiations with Other Unions

It should be noted that the unions representing administrative staff, professionals, as well as bus drivers, metro operators and station agents have all ratified their new collective agreements during general assemblies held in recent months.

The collective agreements of two other unions expired in January 2026, namely the Fraternité des constables et agents de la paix and the Syndicat des travailleuses et travailleurs de la STM – CSN, which represents office clerks. In both cases, negotiations began in 2025 and discussions are ongoing.
